A new version of Spatineo Monitor available

We’ve released today, on the 25th of September, a new version of Spatineo Monitor. The release carries the code name “Greta” to honor the birthday of the famous actress Greta Garbo. We’re pleased to announced that we reached all the goals set for this release and now Spatineo Monitor includes all the major functionalities that you have been asking for and what we set out to deliver. To most visible addition is the reporting functionality (see below). In addition Spatineo Monitor now supports WFS monitoring and reporting. Also the usage analytics has been greatly enhanced.

New features

  • New Reporting functionality in Overview & Reports section makes it possible to create and maintain automatic scheduled reporting of the followed services, including the INSPIRE indicator report for making the yearly INSPIRE reporting tasks easier for INSPIRE data providers. Weekly, monthly and yearly reports containing detailed and summary information about one or more of the followed services are created by Spatineo reporting engine by using the selected schedule, and they can be automatically sent to the given recipients by email. Additionally all created reports can be found and downloaded in your preferred language and page orientation from the Report archive. Graphical reports are available in PDF format. Spreadsheet reports are available in Office Open XML format, also known as “the new MS Excel” .xlsx format.

  • Support for OGC Web Feature Service (WFS). Monitoring and usage analysis of WFS services in addition to WMS and WMTS is now part of Spatineo Monitor functionality. The supported WFS versions are 2.0.0 (also know as ISO 19142 standard), 1.1.0 and 1.0.

  • Any service can now easily be added to the followed services in Spatineo Monitor by clicking the “Follow this service in Spatineo Monitor” button on Spatineo Directory page for that service. As before, a new service can be submitted to Spatineo at any time by copying the URL of it’s capabilities document to the search field at http://www.spatineo.com/ and pressing enter. Maintenance breaks can now be subscribed to in calendar applications supporting iCal feed format. The links to the Atom and iCal feeds are found in the Spatineo Directory page for each service.

  • Completely redesigned log file analysis engine makes analysing and handling large and complex log data sets considerably faster and the there are new analysis dimensions available. Usage analytics also supports WFS log files and it’s possible to add custom dimension to add user specific analytics. Summary rows have been added to data tables in Usage analytics view. A single request amount bar in the Usage analytics timeline can now be used as time filter by selecting it. Only the requests happening during the time period covered by the selected bar is shown in the analytics tools below. Thus the shortest selectable time period for the usage analytics is now one hour (previously one day). Monitoring requests made by the Spatineo are now hidden from the usage analytics by default but this can configured as before.

Bug fixes & improvements

  • Monitoring response time histogram now shows request amount between the slots more accurately by stacking two bars if their contained requests are split between a warning or error threshold.

  • Service display name shown to your own organisation’s users in Spatineo Monitor can now be customized. This is handy if you cannot change the title provided by the service itself, but would like to see a more convenient name for it in Spatineo Monitor and reports.

  • All data tables now have direct links to the first and last page.

  • Several smaller fixes as well as performance and styling improvements to many parts of the service user interface.
