Spatineo IT Software Designer Pauli Sairanen

1.) Name, title, what you will be doing at Spatineo?

Hello, I am Pauli Sairanen, a Software Designer here at Spatineo. I started as a trainee in spring 2021 and just recently started working full-time.

2.) What do you do at Spatineo in practice? Tell us what kind of cases, projects and work you will be doing in the future!

My day to day tasks vary from UI design and drawing layouts to implementation / coding and writing documentation.

I work with both internal and external projects. Currently I am busy with a web project, which includes working with maps and satellite imagery.

3.) What is the best thing about your work?

Personally, I enjoy good design, whether it is an easy to use and efficient software in my phone or something more tangible such as buildings or car interiors.

Good design solves problems everyone faces in their day to day lives in an elegant way.

I enjoy the feeling that I have a chance to create and implement designs that will solve problems other people have.

Additionally it’s a pleasure to work with many bright minded people here at Spatineo and to see the results of my efforts in action after a project is finished.

4.) What technologies (geospatial or not) fascinate you the most? What technologies should be utilized more in the future?

I´ve heard someone say that web technologies never get out of fashion.

With a growing number of different frameworks and technologies built on top of basic web tech, it is possible to build applications to many different platforms, may it be mobile or desktop.

As a designer and developer this brings up a lot of possibilities to create solutions utilizing the knowledge I already have.
